It wasn't going to be a good painting anyway. Tear it, burn it but shoot it first.
This could be the story of my life. I messed up the painting (on the back of a Farrow and Ball wallpaper) teared it to pieces and placed it in front of the fire place to burn it. It looked good then. As a photo subject, with its light, free movement and life, it has all the qualities the painting didn't.
As one with a great fondness for texture ( especially ripped paper ) -
