In the News stand in April,
The house of Franca Sozzani in Marrakech. AD Russia
Franca Sozzani is the director of Vogue Italy. She is to me the greatest editor in the world today and some sort of a Goddess in my pantheon. The house is beyond the beyond and some may even find it horrid. But this house has nothing to do with decoration or taste or at least bourgeois taste. It is the secret abode of the Empress of Fashion, her dark and intoxicated empire built with shade and veils around her frail silhouette. A kick in the ass of taste. Healthy !
Let me introduce Sophie Djerlal, journalist at Vogue Italy, a great friend and my favorite working partner. AD Russia is the first to publish this feature, my way to thank Eugenia Mikulina, the editor in chief, who is with all her team, such a lovely person to work with.

On the same "lost" film, there were these two photos.
A picture of my room at a friend's family house. Today, my own house is just a few miles away.
The corridor in an old boarding school at Ustaritz, in the Basque country. I had no intention of becoming a photographer then. The apple doesn't fall very far from the tree.

Liz Taylor and Richard Burton's yacht Kalizma, a 165 foot Edwardian motoryacht.
Burton bought her in 1967 and named her after the names of his three children Kate, Liza and Maria. One of the main reason is they could go to the Cannes film festival without having their dogs going on quaranteen.
Farewell Liz.

This month, the Poster is a photo of a very simple bowl in clay I made myself for morning tea or for soup, a direct influence of
Junichiro Tanizaki (1886-1965) a prominent Japanese writer and essayist who amongst other things wrote the famous In praise of shadows. These days my heart is in Japan.

My neighbor and friend Carol Reid Gaillard is Irish married to a frenchman. She lives in the Bearn, grows a vegetable garden (2nd best in France !), cooks and looks like a Goddess and now has a blog. Paradise was a garden, remember ?
