Your sensitivity to rooms of this kind and purpose, so different in terroir as Ceylon is from Chelsea, but including also the guest quarters in your own home and the late Paris apartment with the netting overhead, is literary in the most cosmopolitan way. The story is spelled out here as the most telling mise-en-scène, and if these were moving pictures we would think of Almendros or Coutard, except that this is harder and even better.
