When I was young, I wanted to be a painter and gave up after ten years. To be an artist leads to a solitary life and I'm a social person. I became a photographer but kept on sketching during my travels. I never draw from a photo, it wouldn't make any sense or else I'll just take a photograph. I always draw from nature. But in the end my motives, in painting as well as in photography, are the same: tell a little story which speaks for itself and with a bit of feeling. That is what counts first. Certain things come better photographed, others, painted.
What comes first, drawing or photo?
ReplyDeleteDo you draw from life or from the photo of the scene?
