I think always of one of your essential pictures, the cheval on the knoll in La Soule, whenever any other image suggests to me nobility of endurance. Here your caption suggests a defiant perspective, as if that of breastwork defenses against a landing by sea. What is coming? There is an annealing laving of hard edges in this surf, which we know to confer a polish we admire in "driftwood" - recalling that great profile. And with each infusion of the tide, a subsidence of resistance ensues. But not yet.
