Je m'en excuse auprès des athlètes et de mes amis chinois mais je ne regarderai pas la cérémonie d'ouverture des jeux olympiques qui se dérouleront à Pekin. La brutalité du gouvernement chinois à l'égard de son propre peuple et le cynisme impudent jeté à la face du monde régénèrent les spectres haïs des grandes tyrannies du siècle passé.

FAREWELL MONSIEUR SAINT LAURENT

In 1991, I was assigned by the american VOGUE to photograph a selection of couturier's studies among which was Monsieur Saint Laurent's, in the beautiful avenue Marceau maison de couture.It was the most exquisite room, decorated by his lifelong friend Jacques Grange. Few personal objects summed up the couturier's imaginary world along with some drawings by Bébé Bérard and a portrait of Silvana Mangano at the peak of her beauty. Monsieur Saint Laurent's Maison de Couture has been a moment of perfection in the history of french style.

Style court

Style Court was launched in May 2006 with a focus on interior design, decorative arts, books and art history. My B.A. is in art history and my masters is in education. Past adventures include a five-year stint as a docent at the High Museum of Art, and a decade of writing for regional papers. Critical praise has come from the editors of Time, Elle Decor, Country Living, Apartment Therapy L.A., and from decorator Ruthie Sommers. In 2007, Style Court participated in several design*sponge features.

The highlight of this visit to Venice was an interview and portrait session with Ilya and Emilia Kabakov at the Hotel Danieli for the inflight magazine of Swiss airlines. When asked how it felt to be ranked as one of the ten most influential world living artists, Emilia Kabakov didn't flinch an eye and simply replied : "I ignore it ! " "Opinions are for others." This time the Kabakov where showing a rather charming installation on the Gran Canale facing the Dogana and the Piazza San Marco, a boat hoisting sails made of drawings by venetian children. The same concept will be exported to China and displayed during the Olympic games.
