2 photographs taken in the apartment of Mademoiselle Chanel, rue Cambon. I am considering a large platinum print with one of them. But which ?

they are both excellent, of course; my vote is for the table. it telegraphs strength and wonderment and chic awareness, and is soothing. the legs in it are brilliantly strong. the sphere seems to be moving, the patterns are timeless.

nothing about it stands still, yet everything about it is rooted in strength.

If it were up to me, i'd choose the top photograph. Although i like both, i'm attracted to the curios on the table, the play of light and shadow, the graceful lines and curves, the softness of the carpet, just the hint of more furniture nearby. Then again, why not print both? ;)

Hmmm...both? I vote for both.

The lower photo has more contrast and depth in it which will have a sublime effect in platinum. I think.

a trick question? though both are stellar, the second, for anyone with knowledge of Chanel-this image is immediate recognition(for this very reason You may or may not prefer it.-Is that the trick?) I prefer it Not for that- But as a composition the deer seem as if they are about to cross over into that light. Beautiful. My pick. The first- that carpet seam distracts me. After your comment about Minn Hogg today- I went through some of my Cornucopia issues-You are a perfect match for them, have you ever photographed for them? Gaye

Une préférence pour la première...
La lumière dans la boule de cristal et l'aspect Pictorialiste que pourrait conférer le tirage au platine à l'image.
En tous cas, bon courage à Laurent Lafolie !

I don't think I'm going to be any help with your choice - I absolutely cannot decide. For me the top image has real mystery to it and the light is stunning - I love all the subtle different tones of black, white, silver and grey.
But the bottom image is also very magical, maybe it's the light and dark contrasts and the deer. I love deer.

I was no help at all, sorry Ivan, but either one is going to look stunning.

I immensely appreciate your comments and will meditate on this. Possibly print both.
The idea is to put together a collection of couturier's views in such an iconic and quintessential way that one wouldn't have to label them to recognize their style. Your comments helped me a lot in reassuring me about the finality.I was concerned it might just be a little boring. Seems not. A big Thank You

THE DEER.

Bottom one. The other is a room, albeit elegant. The deer photo has a mysterious story, and the light is wonderful

Dear Mr Terestchenko,

Your photos are some of the most beautiful that cross through my life. I am touched by them at times, especially when sadness affects you, as when you moved from your apartment. Or your joy at being at your place in the country.
The photos - probably both, but the deer are the iconic creatures of rue Cambon. Live a little, have both.
Thank you for the lovely times I've had pressing Ivan on my bookmarks...always glad to see your newest entry.
My Best Regards, Nancy Clement
