What comes first, drawing or photo?

Do you draw from life or from the photo of the scene?

When I was young, I wanted to be a painter and gave up after ten years. To be an artist leads to a solitary life and I'm a social person. I became a photographer but kept on sketching during my travels. I never draw from a photo, it wouldn't make any sense or else I'll just take a photograph. I always draw from nature.
But in the end my motives, in painting as well as in photography, are the same: tell a little story which speaks for itself and with a bit of feeling. That is what counts first. Certain things come better photographed, others, painted.
