Ilya and Emilia Kabakov

The highlight of this visit to Venice was an interview and portrait session with Ilya and Emilia Kabakov at the Hotel Danieli for the inflight magazine of Swiss airlines. When asked how it felt to be ranked as one of the ten most influential world living artists, Emilia Kabakov didn't flinch an eye and simply replied : "I ignore it ! " "Opinions are for others." This time the Kabakov where showing a rather charming installation on the Gran Canale facing the Dogana and the Piazza San Marco, a boat hoisting sails made of drawings by venetian children. The same concept will be exported to China and displayed during the Olympic games.

Portfolio Veneziano

Andrea. Venice. Andrea was on water and veg only.

Asked why, he explained he was to compete a few days later for "Mister Italy" and had to compel to a severe diet but found it so strenuous that as soon as the competition would be over he would resume to eating and drinking and, the hell with it, might get fat like a goose. He'd be at the peak of his beauty for one day only...that's when I photographed him...

Double trouble

The local police tried to stop us from taking photographs with the models wearing Trash Couture dresses on location in Sri Lanka. The more they interfered, the more we were eager to carry on, inspiring us to create a story where the girls ( Anna Cetana Zee and Sophie van Horck) are "living" the adventure as we we're shooting it.

Fashion Shoot in Sri Lanka

Back from a travel to Sri Lanka where I was invited by the fashion designer Roberto Enrichsen from Trash Couture to participate in a UNESCO event for the promotion of Peace and children's care. Along with with the 3 top models Dji Deng, Anna Cetana Zee and Sophie van Horck and my fellow photographer Mo Hoffman we improvised a photo session in the wild under the close scrutiny of the local police. The story was filmed by Fashion TV. Thanks to the pop singer Thomas Lavernhe from Karmastone who took these pictures. Thomas is a great voice, check his music http://www.thomaslavernhe.tk/

we are a mexican magazine not even paying mexican rates !!!

THIS IS A MAIL I RECEIVED FROM THE EDITOR AND OWNER OF A MEXICAN MAGAZINE WHO IS ALSO A MEMBER OF ONE OF THE WEALTHIEST FAMILY IN MEXICO. Dear Ivan, The world is decidely very small. I' ve first contacted P***l L*** who says she knows the S*** d'*** whom appartment will appear in same issue, then you, who knows Barbara! Your photographs of P*** L*** flat are fantastic. As you know, we are a mexican magazine not even paying mexican rates (It is a very high profile mag for photographers due to the quality) for material that is ours thereafter. In this case we would just buy the right to publish it once. Therefore, our budget would allow to pay as much as 100 pounds for the shooting of P*** L*** flat with all the photographs showed on the website you provided me. Should it be convenient to you, let me know asap as my husband is currently in London but leaving tomorrow and he can give you a cheque in Sterling which would be the most convenient thing for you. Lovely to have met you through the net and hoping to meeting you one day face to face D*** L***
