The first photo: it belongs, I believe, right next to Hoyningen-Huene's The Divers. It is the next part of the story.

Victoria has that eye. I think this is a book- a damn good one too-& to quote you sir- "I see surfers as modern knights, with a code, a quest, a strong esthetical identity, and bonds between self dedication and love for nature highly appealing and photogenic." The book has to be oversized. maybe even not a hardback- I have something in mind-

At the risk of sounding like an enthralled malechild at his 7th birthday party - or would that have been, 14th? - I'm perfectly willing to be damned for observing that this is extreme heat. Mind you, the markets are closed for the weekend, we are more or less equidistant between solstices, and the Chardonnay has a solid month to evolve on the vine, at least. With all this time on our hands, why NOT open a pleasingly tented studio on the strand, and not miss a single glide in this fellow's repertoire? If there's any photogenesis in this point of view, I'm all for it, don't get me wrong. But as between assimilating the art and merely apostrophising it, I'll live without permission, any day.
